• I have been Chief graphite Engineer for the past 5 years and previously I was the Group Head of Graphite for 20 years. In this role of Chief Engineer, I provide technical oversight and governance to the AGR graphite programme in EDF Energy.

• The EDF graphite programme involves ~100 scientists and engineers cover the range of behaviour at the atomic scale up the engineering core structure. We have extended the lives of the AGRs to over 40 years operation and potentially a further 5 years generation beyond current lifetime.  Most of the data and methods are bespoke to the AGR and securing the technical acceptance of these is essential to secure operation.
